Making Money Now

Beer Money. The team of Robert Roode and James Storm have been tagging together since 2008, and are currently enjoying their fourth reign as TNA World Tag Team Champions.

Each man came from a successful tag team to form perhaps the best tag team that TNA has ever seen. But where do they rank among the best of all time?

Despite fans’ many criticisms of TNA, including my own, it appears that historically the company does seem to care more about its tag team division than WWE does.

Roode’s former faction Team Canada, Storm’s former team America’s Most Wanted, along with Team 3D, LAX, The Voodoo Kin Mafia, The British Invasion, Generation Me, and The Motor City Machine Guns, have all vied for TNA tag team gold in recent years.

The division has thrived since the beginning of the company, and has been featured on TV and pay per view.

Then there’s WWE.

We all know that the current state of tag team wrestling in WWE is virtually non existent, with the championships currently held by Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov.

Bound together by necessity, which is a polite way of saying that WWE creative didn’t really have anything for either guy to do, Marella and Kozlov have actually looked pretty good since winning the straps.

Now, everyone calm down, I didn’t say they were The Road Warriors or anything.

But, for the WWE, we can’t really hope for much more than the tired old formula of two mix-matched guys thrown together for the sake of a lousy, half-hearted push. When it comes to their tag team division, it’s par for the course.

My, how things have changed in this business.

Once upon a time, the National Wrestling Alliance not only featured the greatest singles wrestlers in the sport, its tag team division was second to none with The Rock n Roll Express, The Road Warriors, The Russians, The Midnight Express, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew.

These guys perfected the art of tag team wrestling, and gave Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, and Ricky Steamboat a run for their money when it came to the best match on the card.

Man, where’s the Wayback Machine when you need it?

Of course, WWE hasn’t always neglected its tag team division.

Arguably the greatest era for tag team wrestling in WWE was 2000 to 2001. Three teams came together for a tag team war the likes of which had not been seen since the 1980’s NWA. Three teams redefined tag team wrestling in the business with three little words: tables, ladders, and chairs.

Edge and Christian. The Hardy Boyz. The Dudley Boyz. Three of the best tag teams of all time, blowing the roof off of arenas all over the country every week, each team pushing the other, bringing out the best in every man involved.

This was, without a doubt, a tag team renaissance, a great time for fans who yearned for a revival of the division.

These guys all understood their roles in the company, and fought to carve their names into wrestling history, next to the greatest teams ever. They also wanted to steal the show, and give fans something to remember.

Mission accomplished on both counts.

But with the focus shifted away from tag team wrestling in WWE, and TNA looking to grow as a company, the art of tag team wrestling now has a new pair of Rembrandts. Beer Money.

Yes, that was impossible to say without a smile.

The truth is, Beer Money works on a couple of different levels. One, because of Roode, who brings an intensity and ice-cold determination to his character and approach as a heel. Two, because of James Storm, because he’s funny as hell.

I love this guy. He is a riot, and every time he opens his mouth, or for that matter, just smiles at someone, it’s comedy gold. He makes the team, gives them a bad-boy edge that would make Jake Roberts jealous.

James Storm’s gimmick works so well because it’s so normal. He’s just a guy with a cowboy hat and dark glasses with a beer in his hand.

He looks less like a wrestler and more like the lead singer in a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band. He plays the part so well, and is more comfortable in his gimmick than perhaps anyone in the promotion.

For me, Storm would be a star in either company, on any level.

Fortunately for fans, right now he is one half of TNA’s biggest tag team, Beer Money. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy this team and their work in the ring.

Aside from Storm’s comedy, the guy can work, and he is a great fit with Roode. Beer Money, in a lot of ways, is a throwback to the classic heel teams of the NWA.

They have the tough streak of The Minnesota Wrecking Crew, the finesse of The Midnight Express, and the swagger of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard.

And much like these three teams had memorable feuds with The Rock n Roll Express, Beer Money has had a momentous run against The Motor City Machine Guns.

The pace and tempo of the Guns, matched up against the fierce ground and pound of Beer Money, have made for some great moments in TNA. Both teams are working hard to own the night, every time they set foot in the ring.

That’s what tag team wrestling is all about, and I for one am glad to see it happening again. The only question I have is, how long will Beer Money stay together, before TNA creative, such as it is, decides to split them up?

It would be a shame if their run as one of the best teams in the company lasts only three years. Beer Money deserves to have a legacy, an opportunity to be considered among the all-time greats. But perhaps that is not meant to happen in TNA?

Considering that WWE gave up on its tag team division years ago, the chances of seeing Storm and Roode work for Vince appear to be slim to none.

But, if given a chance, I have to believe that not only would Beer Money make the best of it, they would do what they continue to do every week in TNA: steal the show.

It’s an interesting bit of speculation, when it comes to debating Beer Money’s place in tag team history. Perhaps it’s too soon for that. Perhaps as Storm and Roode continue to build their reputation week in and week out, we should just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Let the renaissance begin…again.

Of all the interesting new tech that seems poised to garner a lot of buzz in 2011, near field communication (NFC), is probably the most exciting. If it takes off, it will transform the ways we communicate, share, and make payments with digital devices. This will likely take years to happen, but the groundwork is being laid right now. And RFinity is one of those companies at the forefront.

While Google and Apple are responsible for generating much of the buzz about NFC at the moment, the technology goes far beyond simply having the right type of chip in your mobile device. For example, how do you handle different types of data transfers being made from one device to another? And how to you ensure that they happen as quickly as possible? And most importantly, how do you ensure that they happen securely? Those are the things that RFinity is thinking about.

The company has just raised $4 million from Horizons Ventures in Hong Kong. And the space has gotten so red hot, in fact, that we hear they’re already out raising another round.

And it’s an easy bet for investors to make not only because of the space, but because of where the project originated: The U.S. Department of Energy. Specifically, RFinity was born when a bunch of infrastructure security experts working for the government were assigned to find all the vulnerabilities in cell phones. Through software they came up with, they were able to quite easily eavesdrop, manipulate SMS messages, and even compromise LAN security. Then they set out to figure out a way to stop people from doing those very things. That work led directly to RFinity.

Work originally began in the person-to-person and person-to-vendor sales space by way of mobile applications that route transactions through RFinity’s own secure servers. But now that NFC appears ready, RFinity is making sure they’re ready for it. The idea is that their technology could cut out the middle man here: themselves.

Obviously, the company isn’t going to share all the details on how they secure NFC transfers. But the basic overview is that they verify an incoming NFC signal and ask for a user’s permission before taking any action. Further, if the action is a transaction, it requires a PIN, just as you might do an ATM withdrawal. That’s all pretty standard. But the key is one-time-use transaction codes that RFinity creates on the fly along with complex cryptographic signatures. These ensure that an transaction is secure since it means that every transaction can only happen once. Even if those numbers were intercepted by a hacker, they would be useless beyond the one-time payment.

And even if your phone is lost or stolen, a thief couldn’t do anything without your PIN. And you can remotely shut down your NFC capabilities via RFinity. It’s enough to make me wish I could throw out all my credit cards right now. “Today’s identification and transaction systems are based on what? A magnetic strip on the back of a card, based on a 1950’s technology that relies on a base station to read the information embedded as a series of simple magnetic markers in plastic tape,” writes Josh Jones-Dilworth, who is working with the company to bring them to market.

Again, NFC as a technology is great and potentially game-changing. But the software is still needed to make it actually work. And some of the big guys began realizing that early on as companies like PayPal, Bank of America, and even Subway have been testing out different things with RFinity for some time. In fact, RFinity has actually been doing field tests of the software end of their technology since 2009 in places like Idaho, well before most people in the U.S. had ever thought about NFC.

But now people are starting to care. And soon, they could be caring a lot more. NFC is already built-in to Google’s new Nexus S device — and the company has put out a call for developers to start using the tech. Rumors have the next iteration of the iPhone gaining the technology as well. In other words, I suspect we may be seeing acquisition rumors starting to fly around RFinity in about six months or so. Provided their technology proves up to the NFC challenge, of course.

Kim Kardashian is now an expert on teen pregnancy, having briefly paid attention to something other than women’s foundation color and which toilet she’s supposed to attend the opening of this week. Kim posted a preachy missive on her blog about the case of 90 teen pregnancies in a high school in Memphis, Tennessee, which she claims to have learned about from a segment of The Today Show that aired on the same day she appeared on the show with her sister.

Kim blamed MTV’s Teen Mom for the spate of pregnancies in Memphis, which is strange considering that the teen pregnancy rate has been on the decline since Teen Mom started airing. If Kim had paid attention to the Today Show segment, she may have realized that all the pregnant teens at that one high school may have more to do with the fact that at least 3 dozen of them transfered to the school to get special services they offered to pregnant students. Today also mentioned in that segment that the birthrate for US teens is down 6% this year. There are still too many pregnant teens of course, and Kim blames MTV for it.

In response, Teen Mom’s notorious baby-daddy basher, Amber Portwood, pointed out that the teen pregnancy rate has declined. She also mentioned that Kim got famous for a sex tape and isn’t one to talk. I can’t stand Amber but she gets props for this:

After seeing a “sad and disturbing” report on Today about a high school in Memphis, Tenn., that counted 90 students who were pregnant or had given birth in the past year, the E! star took to her blog and Twitter Wednesday to tell her fans that getting pregnant at a young age is not something to aspire to.

“It seems that shows like Teen Mom are all of a sudden making teen pregnancy seem cool in the eyes of young girls,” she wrote on Celebuzz. “The kids from these shows are all over the news, even on the covers of magazines, and have been become almost like celebrities, but girls, these are not people you should idolize!”

So, what do Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood and Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans have to say about that?

“There’s actually a study that shows since the original 16 and Pregnant aired, the number of teen pregnancies have gone down,” Portwood exclusively tells E! News.

“Last time I checked, Kim Kardashian had a sex tape floating around on the internet and I’m pretty sure she made a lot of money off of it,” says the mother of 2-year-old Leah. “She made a sex tape when she was younger and she wants to bash the girls on Teen Mom? If you read the articles about the show, they do nothing but talk about how the show reveals how hard it is for all of us. It doesn’t glamorize anything! It shows the heartache we’ve all gone through.

“We may be ‘celebrities’ because our face is out there, but it’s only because we’ve done some bad things. That’s not glamorous.”

Well, the paycheck is a little glamorous…

“When I think back to when I was 16, there is no way I would even have considered having a baby,” Kim continued in her blog. “That thought wouldn’t even have entered my head. Having a baby is one one of the biggest, and most life-changing decisions a person can make and while I’m not saying that no teen is in the position to raise a child, having a baby so young shouldn’t be seen as the trendy thing to do.”

[From E! News]

E! also asked the new bad mom on the block Janelle about this controversy, and she said simply “sh*t happens.”

See, Kim was once a teenager and she didn’t get pregnant so she should serve as a role model, not these Teen Moms who are stealing her reality show thunder. They don’t rate magazine covers, she does!

I agree with Amber that Teen Mom doesn’t glamorize what these girls go through. The money and tabloid covers they get glamorize it, though. It’s not that I agree with Kim Kardashian at all. She’s such a dimwit she missed the whole part of the story where they said that the teen pregnancy rate was down across the US. It’s just that these anecdotal stories arouse Kim’s feelings of frozen-faced superiority, and that’s so much more compelling than statistics or facts.

Introduction

How many of you have seen e-books, ads, and websites all over the Internet stating "Make $5,000 an hour on the Internet with little or no experience needed!" I'm sure most of you have, and to sadly tell you the truth, this is not a reality.

When it comes to making money in life there really isn't the "get rich quick scheme" unless of course you risk it all and gamble or play the lottery, but for the average working person, there is theoretically no way to make that much money on the Internet or in any business.

If you are a hard working person and you are actually interested in making money online then I would suggest you stick around, but if you are the average jo shmo trying to make an enormous amount of money, then I suggest you go play your luck and buy a lottery ticket, but if you are a hardworking person and won't mind trying to make a full time living online, then I suggest you stay right here.

Starting You're Own Website

This may be the hardest way to make money online, but if you are dedicated enough to make that 6 figure salary a year, and to eventually quit your 9-5 job then you will be able to achieve it.

Some of you may be thinking, "Hey Mike I have no experience in making websites or Internet marketing". Well to answer that statement I will have to say that it is a really simple thing to learn. You may think that you have to do a ton of coding, but to tell you the truth you can purchase beautiful templates from websites and everything will be set up right there for you. I suggest using Wordpress and buying a theme from WooThemes to start your own website. But, before you even do this you have to purchase a domain name and hosting from sites like GoDaddy, or Hostgator. This may seem like a lot for right now, but This will be the introduction to my tutorials of REALLY making money online.

What Should I Have My Website Be About?

I will say this over and over again, you should have your website be about something you are interested in. For example, if you are interested in computer programming then make a blog about tutorials about how to program in various computer languages, or if you are interested in technology like I am then create a blog such as my website, http://www.cphonetips.com, and write about tech reviews, tech news, and opinions.

The more you are interested in the topic, the more you can achieve in making a substantial amount of money online.

How Do I Make Money?

Some of you probably wonder, "How do websites make money online if they are providing free content?" Well the answer to that is of course advertising.

There are many companies out there such as Yahoo!, and Google that offer advertising on your website. Google offers something called Google Adsense in which when someone clicks on one of your ads on your site you earn a commission anywhere between 10 cents and 15 dollars depending on the traffic of your website and the ad the viewer clicked on.

There is also something called Affiliate marketing, which is kind of like promoting someone Else's product(s) and selling them on your website and you get paid a commission for every product or service you sell from your website.

The key is obviously the more traffic you get the more money you earn, but it is not all about the money, you have to make sure that you are engaged with your audience and you are doing this to help or inform people about what ever you are interested in. The more interest you have in the topic, the better content you write, the more you keep up with your site, the more traffic you get, the more money you get. As you can see it is pretty much like a domino effect.

To Sum It All Up

This is all just a big introduction of how people actually do make money online from just BLOGGING. It is a long journey and you may encounter forks in the road, but never get up and keep on going. I will have much more to come about making money online from starting your own blog.

foreclosure report

A
coalition of seven major public pension systems, led by New York City
Comptroller John Liu, has asked the boards of four of the largest U.S.
banks to examine their mortgage and foreclosure practices.

In
a letter dated January 6, the pension fund coalition urged the Audit
Committees of Bank of America Corp, Citigroup Inc, JPMorgan Chase &
Co, and Wells Fargo L& Co to launch independent examinations of their loan modification, foreclosure, and securitization policies and procedures.

"This
will help to prevent future compliance failures and restore the
confidence of shareholders, regulators, legislators and mortgage
markets participants," the coalition said in the letter.

Bank representatives could not be reached for immediate comment on Sunday.

On
January 7, in a decision that could slow foreclosures nationwide,
Massachusetts' highest court voided the seizure of two homes by Wells
Fargo & Co and US Bancorp after the banks failed to show they held
the mortgages at the time they foreclosed.

That
sent fears through the market as investors worried that decision could
threaten lenders' ability to work through hundreds of thousands of
pending foreclosures.

The
Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts' unanimous decision upheld a
lower court ruling and was among the earliest cases to address the
validity of foreclosures done without proper documentation.

That
issue, including the use of "robo-signers" who approved foreclosure
documents without reviewing them, last year prompted an uproar that led
lenders such as Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Ally Financial Inc
to temporarily stop seizing homes.

Courts
in other U.S. states are considering similar cases, and all 50 state
attorneys general are examining whether lenders are forcing people out
of their homes improperly.

The
pension fund coalition represents more than $430 billion in pension
fund investments, including $5.7 billion invested in the four banks.

Liu
represents the five NYC pension funds. The coalition also includes the
Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds, the Illinois State Board
of Investment, the Illinois State Universities Retirement System, the
New York State Common Retirement Fund, the North Carolina Retirement
Systems, and the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund.

The
coalition called for the banks to report the findings of their
independent examinations in their 2011 proxy statements this spring.

At
the end of the last year, the coalition's combined holdings in each
bank included: 97.1 million Bank of America shares valued at $1.3
billion; 226.6 million Citigroup shares valued at $1.1 billion; 40.7
million JPMorgan Chase shares valued at $1.7 billion, and 50.6 million
Wells Fargo shares at $1.6 billion.

It's about
time public pension funds get involved and use their clout to pressure
banks to examine their loan modification, foreclosure, and
securitization policies and procedures. I'm not sure anything will come
out of this but the foreclosure crisis has sounded the alarm bell and
banks need to respond to make sure that measures are in place to prevent
this type of abuse from ever happening again.

Finally, I leave you with some thoughts from Graham Turner of GFC Economics, one of the best independent economic consultancy shops for institutional clients:

A small number of states continue to be the hardest hit. California, Florida, Arizona, Illinois and Michigan account for half of the nation's total filings.

Many analysts believe that housing cannot recover in markets where unemployment is above 10%. Low interest rates on mortgages have not aided home sales, at least not in a measurable way. Government's attempt to rectify the situations have had mixed success. Tax credits, offered early in the year, boosted buying activity, but those benefits expired in April. The Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), meant to refinance mortgages to keep people in their homes, was simply a failure.

Another problem that faces the housing recovery is that many potential home buyers believe that prices could go even lower. S&P forecast that home prices could drop another 7% to 10% this year.

James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac, offered little hope for the beginning of 2011. He said "many of the foreclosure proceedings that were stopped in late 2010 -- which we estimate may be as high as a quarter million -- will likely be re-started and add to the numbers in early 2011."

If your adjustable rate mortgage has recently reset and your monthly payments have gone so high you can't afford them, you may find yourself desperately trying to hang on to a property that's no longer worth what you paid for it. So, if want to avoid foreclosure, what's next? The answer is a short sale. To learn how to avoid foreclosure with short sales and the answer to some commonly asked questions, keep reading.

What are short sales?

Short sales are a deal between the lender and the borrower to sell the property for less than the amount that is owed on the mortgage. Essentially, the lender accepts less than the total debt to avoid foreclosure processing and expenses.

What are the benefits of a short sale?

For the borrower, or homeowner, these deals mean they can avoid foreclosure with short sales, meaning they can sidestep irreparable damage to their credit report. According to the National Short Sale Center, a foreclosure can stay on your credit history for as long as 10 years, making it difficult to purchase a new home or obtain credit.

Does that mean a short sale won't affect my credit rating?

While you can avoid foreclosure with short sales and significant credit score damage, the use of a short sale can still affect your credit score by about 75 to 100 points. So, even though they're not as devastating as a full foreclosure, you will still feel the repercussions for a number of years.

Why do lenders agree to short sales?

Lenders agree to short sales mostly because they want to avoid foreclosure too. Foreclosures are expensive and time-consuming processes that involve lawyers, taxes, uncollected interest payments, accumulating bad debt and a generally overwhelming administrative process that most lenders simply don't want to deal with. It's actually less expensive for them to agree to a short sale then fight through a foreclosure process.

What are the conditions of a short sale?

You can avoid foreclosure with short sales as long as you meet several conditions. The first is that you must not be able to make your current mortgage payments. The second is that the property must be valued at less than the total amount borrowed. You won't make a profit on a short sale and you will most likely lose a lot of money, but you will avoid foreclosure.

Will every lender agree to a short sale?

Not every lender is going to agree to a short sale, some will require additional payments to settle the debt while others may outright refuse. Typically though, if you meet the conditions outlined above, you can avoid foreclosure with short sales.
